Nice to see so many old names coming back.  I still have my game disks as well - would definitely be fun to have some retro events.

@pftq - "NW_Q", by chance?

No, not NW_Q sorry.  I came a bit later, around the year before AOE3 released.
I remember playing him though. :P

Yeah - college takes a lot of people away.  I remember when I first came around it was Matei, and now I'm too busy for much anything. >.<

Wow - I definitely remember some annoying dude named The_Hunter - was that you?  ;D (jk about the annoying part :P) Haha, it's been forever.  Nice seeing you again!

Yeah, not too many people online nowadays unfortunately.  I remember trying to get some games going last summer to revive this thing (both AOE3 and AOM) but it's pretty empty now.

Haha nice seeing you around! I remember you. :D

Yeah I'm hoping they find their way back.  I haven't been able to talk Mike into giving me the old database to restore though but if he ever sends it to me, I'll set up the old NW site back the way it was.

Nice ideas.  I definitely thought of China as similar to Russians but didn't want two civs to be so alike.

India - I didn't know they put a stun unit in the game now, very nice.  I'm a little more hesitant on the one shot kills for Japan though (imagine super units getting one-shotted).  I'll admit I haven't had a chance to really experiment with the new TAD material yet.  I wanted to get the map out quickly before I possibly get busy again after the next couple months, but the new stuff sounds very interesting.

For the water/cave, the environment is randomized.  Is the water still an issue? I would have thought 5 years, AOE3 would stop lagging lol

Can someone confirm this?

What I think might be the problem is that ES changed the ModProto trigger in TAD so the IDs for Range to mismatched.  They seem to do that everytime they add something new - I don't know why they go and shift all the old IDs rather than just put the new things at the end of the list. -_-

Fort Wars (Age of Empires 3) / Re: OOS problems

One thing I think I did change was that the map no longer corrects the "old" OOS issues from previous FW maps (prior 2.0).  I took it out thinking it's been long enough that the faulty maps were phased out but maybe not.  I'll have to double check when I get back to my home desktop.

If that's the case with typetest, then perhaps.  It just sounded more like a map issue though (where people are unlikely to have modified the file), so I wasn't sure.

Very kind words - thank you. It was those same longings for FW again that led me back. :)

It's a bit hard to imagine that the game's 4-5 years old now.  Still hasn't sunk in for me yet. :D

Shouldn't conflict with custom typetest files.  Fort Wars basically writes its own custom conditions/effects so to speak so it doesn't depend on that.

What game version, may I ask?

Yes - fortunately, the old version (unencrypted) doesn't work on the expansion packs as you said so that is safe.

We need to spread the 2.5 version more on AOE3 vanilla though.

Not sure what you mean by prereqs and bank accounts but I'll agree with you there. :P

That is the Norse Wars ladder, which I don't have control over. Make sure to click the half of the ladder button that says Fort Wars. :P

Can't really emphasize more than what has already been said.  Deselect the Custom Maps checkbox completely and then recheck it - select Fort Wars.  Make sure the player is getting asked to download, and then wait up to a minute.  It does take a while to download, despite only being a hundred kb.

Nevermind - issue fixed.  Redownload and enjoy! :)

http://www.pftq.com/fortwars/dl.php

AOE3 TWC+TAD -> Fort Wars 4.1
AOE3 TWC -> Fort Wars 3.4
AOE3 -> Fort Wars 2.5

I'm not sure why the map transfers are having trouble, but that's not something I can fix unfortunately (the map hasn't even been loaded yet, so it's not as if there is some code in the way).  I'm guessing when ES implemented online scenarios, they also broke something with custom RMS.

The way to remedy it though is to change the map when people are in the room and then change it back to Fort Wars.  They won't be able to click Ready right away because it is downloading but just give a moment or so afterwards and it should be fine.

Quick questions
- What civ were you playing?
- Was there a message in addition to the other players abandoning the colony?

Just downloaded myself but am not getting the issue.  I will try to be online at various times the next two days to see if we can test this.

Just to clarify, you are loading this on TAD with TWC installed? The map terrain/abandon would occur if you mismatch game versions (2.x = AOE3, 3.x = TWC, 4.x = TWC+TAD).

For file-transfer, I can't really help there since the map wouldn't even be loaded yet.  I'm guessing something changed in the ES patches.  My best suggestion would be to just refresh the map when players are in the game room by changing the map to something else and then back to Fort Wars to see if they get the download prompt.
