Hey! Awesome to hear from you.  You were like one of the first people I met in Norse Wars lol

I have a copy on Steam.  Don't play regularly but happy to schedule a game whenever.

Was pretty fun.  1v1 between me and Ra.  Definitely want more people around next time for team or FFA.

What is voobly? Do you need the original game? (might have to dig >.<)

Edit: Yeah, it's much better on voobly.  Graphics etc pretty much the same as original so no new lag or graphics issues.

Yeah, I've reached out to Mike several times to try to restore the old files/layouts, but I can't get a hold of him.  If anyone has other ideas, let me know.

Some resources I'm looking at so far:
- Free AI engine: http://rivaltheory.com/rain/
- Some free RTS assets: http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/100-free-fantasy-rts-assets.65211/

I figure if we can get a skeleton for the game going, we can always replace the models later with higher quality stuff.

Awesome. Glad to hear.

Ra and I are currently looking for existing RTS packages on Unity so we

don't have to start from scratch. At the moment just trying to get a basic

functioning prototype together. Also if you have AOMT on Steam, we're also

trying to record a game with a handful of players at some point so we can

show what the game is like to newcomers.

Haha what kind of finance? It seems like a lot of gamers I used to know

went in that direction.

Added a basic video against AI for now:

If anyone wants to play and record a real game, let me know.

Thanks Ra.  I'm asking around a lot to figure out what kind of help I can get at the moment.

Does anyone happen to have gameplay footage of NW by any chance? It would help get more developers interested as it's hard to demo the game now that ESO is dead (and since the AI doesn't really play).

Any interest for the project? Haven't quite seen a game like Norse Wars since AOM/AOE3 died, and it seems like if DoTA can lead to a stand-alone game (DoTA2, LoL), it's not that far a stretch to see Norse Wars becoming one as well (if we can get a team around it).

I've been out of the game development scene too long though and don't know where all the modders/designers have gone (or if that's still a big thing in the newer games, which seem largely locked down from an editing standpoint).  Just putting this out there to see if maybe some of us have gone into game development professionally or know of anyone that might be interested in getting this together.

AOM got taken over by Steam now so it seems those are the new official

servers. You have to buy a new copy of the game via Steam though.

What's everyone doing these days? I'm mainly doing algorithmic stock trading, with programming, music, and animation on the side.  Trying to find my way back to game development.

Yeah we should definitely play some time. I still have my install and I'm

up for it.

Thought about it... haven't convinced myself to take the dive though.  What does everyone play nowadays?

What AOE3 version and what map version?

I see a few games but mostly months back.  Nothing's changed on my end, but with ES having disbanded and all, can't be sure how well they're still running things.
